The SIS Biennial General Meeting (BGM) 2016 was held on 28 May 2016 (Saturday) at OnePeople.sg. It started promptly at 3pm when a quorum of 100 people was achieved.
After ratifying the minutes of the last General Meeting, the Biennial Report, the audited Statement of Accounts & the proposed amendments to the Constitution, and answering questions posed by SIS members, elections for the next SIS Executive Board was conducted. 33 nominees were presented; each given 30 seconds to speak as a platform to campaign for votes.
SIS Member, Mr Abdul Halim Kader, was nominated and appointed as the Presiding Chairman to oversee the elections. And 4 counting agents were selected from the attendees to assist him in compiling & collating the votes from 116 voting slips submitted by the attendees.
Members went for a tea-break while waiting for the votes to be counted and the results to be revealed. The announcement of the election results, where the 21 candidates with the highest number of votes go on to form the new SIS Executive Board, ended the day.
